This is a character someone contracted me to draw for them ages ago... we went through a gazillion different sketches, with neither of us being completely satisfied with the same one.
Anyway, after a hiatus, I went back to this character and did this sketch, which I'm quite fond of. It feels like it fits the character, and it has a dynamism to it. Maybe I'll even finish it some day, with colour and stuff. : )
Toshiro.. *sighs* I remeber that whole ordeal.. wtf was that all about anyways??? I forgot all about it actully.. more like I bloked and part of my history out of my mind. What was that dude trying to acomplish<sp.. sorry> anyways? *shrugges* I always lked your design of him thou, that arm guard ROCKS to this day.. wish I could steal it and use it for my peeps, but im not.... <_<..>_>;;; heh
Well, I guess ol' Joey was kind of ambitious yet indecisive, and I was a little to passive and lackadaisical (howthehelldoyouspellthat??) for my own good...
I never got paid for that work... I mean, I only asked for a really token amount anyway, which in no way reflected the amount of work I put in. But it felt a little dickish to be pursuing him about it when I took so long on each sketch... it was the colour that did it. If all he had wanted was a black and white finished drawing, I would have been done done done. But I could never bring myself to the colouring stage.
Anyway, there are still parts of this design I like very much, and I particularly like this pose. As for the arm-guard... I dunno man... I'm sure I stole it from somewhere myself. It's a pretty simplistic design after all. Take it with my blessing.
Yeah, sorry about my indecisiveness. It's a flaw I have yet to outgrow. ^_^;;
I kind of fancied myself a director. I saw how George Lucas and Peter Jackson had these huge art departments and would get huge numbers of sketches and designs for each concept, and I kind of envied them. Sorry 'bout that.

As for Toshiro, I wasn't really married to any particular colours... which I guess was kind of the problem. I have ZERO colour instinct.
Hit me with some ideas, and maybe I'll try 'em out!
